herbed fingerling potatoes and plum bbq sauce

the star of the show tonight was the plum bbq sauce. it all started several days ago when i cooked some aging plums with a bit of sugar and water. didn't really have a plan for it, but throwing out fruit is rather painful. so a little plum sauce came to be. it had a distinct caramel flavor since i forgot about the pot for five minutes...

i also had some caramelized onions left over from making some pizzas over the weekend. mix those with the plum sauce, add some apple cider vinegar, a bit of agave syrup or sugar and a touch of salt to balance the whole thing off and you got yourself a delicious plum flavored bbq sauce. in this case i spooned it onto some braised pork ribs and it was a winning combo.

i served the ribs with some pan-fried fingerling potatoes tossed with green onions, tarragon, parsley and basil for a delicious side. perhaps not the healthiest meal, but it sure was delicious.
